Pics and Images from around The Rockford Inn
Brendon near Lynton,Exmoor, North Devon

View of our valley taken from the main A39 between Porlock & Lynmouth

The Rockford Inn is down there, somewhere, hidden amongst the
oak woods that surround the pub.

Sign to be found on the public footpath between Countisbury Hill & The Rockford Inn,
a short walk across country of about 2 miles or so.

Ths steep hill down to the village of Brendon with a 1 in 4 incline, not for the faint hearted!

Signpost in the village. The narrow lanes around The Rockford
are not suitable for larger vehicles!

towards Simonsbath and Exford.

The damp valley is perfect for mushrooms of all types

Sunrise in the oak woods that surround The Rockford Inn. Shot taken from one of the many public footpaths that criss cross the countryside
Although we are in a secluded valley miles from anywhere we are not cut off
from the outside world, unfortunately!

View from the wooden footbridge downstream with the hamlet of Rockford on the left.

The rapids at Fox Pool just 50 yards upstream from the footbridge at Rockford.
A great spot to sit and watch the salmon as they jump to clear this rocky obstacle.

More rapids on the East Lyn River just yards from The Rockford Inn

Our chef and manageress Sarah captured this little fellow just along the lane

The dark and mysterious Long Pool on the East Lyn River. Situated at the bottom of
a 200ft gorge it's best accessed from the same side of the river as The Rockford Inn.
It's a popular spot for anglers and walkers and where you can see the salmon as they
lay waiting in the depths for heavy rain to bring the river into speight (flood).
There will then be enough water for them to continue their journey upstream to the shallow spawning beds just along from The Rockford Inn.

Lyn Pool. Twenty foot deep and a great spot for swimming

Deer photograped by our guest Philp Coole, by Wiltsham Farm just opposite The Rockford Inn
